Type Locality and Naming
Along the Raz River, Shing River basin, Central Tajikistan. A.I. Lavrushevich, G.N. Menakova, 1966 (368, p. 19). Stratotype in the section of the Daurich Mountain
Synonym: Raz Skiy Layers, Разские сл., Raz Beds; Raz Layers
Lithology and Thickness
A thick (up to 200 m) sequence of greenish-brown quartz–chlorite–sericite shales, gradually overlain by a sequence (up to 30 m) largely consisting of quartz sandstones of variable grain size, gravels, and conglomerates.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The relationship with the underlying rocks is unclear.
Upper contact
Overlain by the Bilfurak Beds Fm (Biolfurak Member).
Regional extent
Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region.

Fossils
In the upper part – Palaeofavosites cf. schmidti Sok., R. balticus Rukh. Tabulate corals are found in some parts of the sequence.
